28 year old Singaporean Yenn Wong had a vision, to open a majestic boutique hotel in Hong Kong named JIA.  After a great success in the Pearl of Orient, she decided to open her second JIA hotel in one of Asia´s most exciting cities, Shanghai, consumed on Agust 10th, 2007.

Au courant of Nanjing Road in a stunning 1920´s building JIA SHANGHAI stands.  Three different designers created it´s interiors.  The Lobby was designed by Andre Fu from the Architectural firm AFSO, while the Italian Restaurant by Darryl Goveas from Pure Creative International.  Rooms and penthouse suites by BURO Architects in association with Hecker Phelan and Guthrie Interiors (HP&G).

When guests cross the main entrance, a “Cascade” formed by birdcages hanging from the ceiling above a black lacquered sculpture welcomes them.  Fabric embroidery wall panels and washed oak floors create an urban-chic home feeling.  On one side of the Lobby stands the “Umbrella Table”, ideal for a quick meet, surrounded by chinese artworks.  On the other side lays the Lobby Lounge with it´s relaxing atmosphere, chocolate brown walls resembling bamboo, sofas and cushions with rich color and texture fabrics.  Over here, only for JIA´s guests, there´s Continental Breakfast, all day soft beverages, wine on evening, and more treats.

But this wonder was not ready until ISSIMO´s opening on March 3rd, 2008, one of Shanghai´s greatest italian restaurants.  Located on the second floor with it´s own street-level access, ISSIMO, is a rustic, sexy, playful, and warmly-chic space.  Corridors and arches are the design keys to the restaurant, while black and white photographs, hammered copper walls, rustic furnishes, art pieces and natural materials like wood, leather, brick, and copper make this “Modern Chalet” one of the most exciting dinning scenes on town.

A diamond cut mirrored staircase ornamented with copper features leads you up from street level.  The 60 seat dinning room has a 12 meter Olive-wood counter with a show kitchen.  The Anti-bar area is a very unique space because it features a mother of pearl bar by Etienne de Souza.  The glasswall private dinning room holds up to 34 commensals, and the private lounge up to eight.

Rissotto with seasonal mushrooms, parmigiano cheese and pine kernels; Spring chicken on the grill; Pizza D.O.C. (cherry tomato, basil and mozzarella cheese); and Tiramisu with double espresso sauce are some of the signature dishes that world renowned chef Salvatore Cuomo created for ISSIMO.  Menu´s concept is sharing, so sizes are familiar.  There´s also a great list of wines, and exquisite cocktails like Rose Lychee and Navan Magalassi, seriously selected and mixed by mixologist and Grand Marnier Guillaume Jubien.

The magnificent hotel features 55 rooms (some with balconies), and two über-chic penthouse suites located on the top floor. Corridors on each floor are dark leading you to unbeliveable designer rooms.  The 45 sq meter average guestrooms are spacious, warm, sexy, and recreate a familiar contemporary space.  With their timber paneled walls, over-scaled floor rugs, dark timber floors, kitchenettes, signature furniture, chinese objects, artwork, and photographic pieces they emanate luxurious energy.

The palatial bathrooms adorned with Bisazza mosaic tiles provide the guests fine Ginseng and Jasmine amenities in their separate shower, bath and toilet areas.

JIA SHANGHAI also hosts a Techno Gym and a Bussiness Centre, the rates include wi-fi service, no charge for local calls, Nintendo, WII and much more.  So we hope you enjoy your stay at the several award winner
JIA SHANGHAI.
